Poisson Distribution

Poisson Distribution

Postby dj. » Thu May 06, 2010 9:22 am

The Poisson distribution or Poisson law of large numbers is a discrete probability distribution.

It expresses the probability of a number of events occurring in a fixed period of time, if these events occur with a known average rate and independently of the time since the last event. The Poisson distribution can also be used for the number of events in other specified intervals such as distance, area or volume, while our field of interest in this case is of course to apply Poisson distribution on a football game.

My goal is to cross Poisson distribution with my Goal Rating System, and to build solid football betting system based purely on maths and stats ;)

I'll try to start test thread for upcoming weekend and use Nordic leagues during summer to warm up for the start of the next season in "major" leagues.

I will also try to include Poisson distribution in rebuilt main site (http://www.system-bet.com) and that should also happen before August.

Ok, back to this. Sorry for the delay, but I've been busy with some other (personal and business) stuff, but hopefully I will be able to concentrate on this during next few weeks, and get ready for the start of the new football season in major European leagues.

I'll open separate threads for some over/under, correct score and 1x2 betting experiments using Poisson distribution and see what happens.
